About us
Ringwood began its journey in the early 1850s, following the first surveys of Victoria, named after Ringwood in England.

The Society started in 1958 when a small group of enthusiastic citizens started scouring for photographs, maps, early newspapers and documents.

Over sixty years later, the collection encompasses many thousands of photographs and items. The society has two archives, thanks to the generous support of Maroondah City Council.

The Society acts as custodians of Maroondah heritage. An active team of volunteers perform many duties at meetings, at the archives and in the community. We provide education and knowledge of our local history to schools and organisations, and provide access to items for researchers.
